Hero Vida VX2 Review: Smart, Practical, and Affordable

The Hero Vida VX2 electric scooter has made a strong debut in India’s EV market. It focuses on affordability, practicality, and smart features. Launched on July 1, 2025, the VX2 represents Hero MotoCorp’s commitment to cleaner urban mobility. Available in two variants—VX2 Go and VX2 Plus—the scooter suits both daily riders and long-range commuters. With Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) plans, removable batteries, and smart connectivity, the VX2 addresses the key concerns of Indian buyers: price, convenience, and range.


Launch and Market Position

Hero MotoCorp unveiled the VX2 lineup to commemorate the birth anniversary of company founder Dr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal. The VX2 Go and VX2 Plus directly compete with TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ather scooters. Hero strategically priced the scooters to attract a broad customer base, offering both ownership and subscription models. The introductory prices have significantly lowered the barrier for first-time EV buyers.


Variants and Battery Setup

The VX2 Go comes with a single 2.2 kWh removable battery and offers a claimed IDC range of 92 kilometers. On the other hand, the VX2 Plus includes two removable batteries with a total capacity of 3.4 kWh, delivering a claimed range of up to 142 kilometers.

Hero designed both variants with urban commuting in mind. Riders can remove and charge batteries at home or office using a standard 5-amp socket. This flexibility eliminates the dependency on charging stations and suits apartment dwellers without dedicated parking.


Charging and Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS)

Hero offers a smart BaaS model. Instead of buying the battery, riders can subscribe to a plan and pay monthly. For instance, VX2 Go costs ₹44,990 under the BaaS model. Monthly rental starts at ₹1,103 for a 5-year plan, covering 750 km per month. The VX2 Plus, priced at ₹57,990 under BaaS, offers longer range plans, with monthly rentals starting from ₹1,128. Customers can also choose to purchase the scooters with batteries outright, with the VX2 Go priced at ₹84,990 and the Plus variant at ₹99,990.

Fast charging is available across Hero Vida and Ather’s charging network. Riders can charge up to 80% in under an hour using DC fast chargers.


Performance and Ride Quality

Hero equipped the VX2 with a 6 kW peak power PMSM motor that delivers 25 Nm of torque. The Go variant uses a slightly less powerful version for budget riders. The VX2 Plus accelerates from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, while the Go variant takes about 4.2 seconds. These performance stats place the VX2 among the fastest EV scooters in the budget segment.

Riders can choose between multiple riding modes—Eco, Ride, and Sport—depending on their needs. In Eco mode, the VX2 Plus delivers around 100 kilometers of real-world range. In Sport mode, it drops to 60–65 kilometers, but the performance remains responsive and smooth.

Hero tuned the suspension for Indian road conditions. The telescopic front forks and rear mono-shock provide a stable and comfortable ride. The 12-inch wheels give confidence on pothole-ridden city roads. Braking comes from a disc at the front and drum at the rear. While effective overall, some riders reported that the front brake could offer better feedback.


Design, Features, and Build Quality

Hero focused on simplicity and practicality with the VX2’s design. The scooter has a clean, urban look with sharp lines and a distinctive LED DRL. The VX2 Plus features a vibrant 4.3-inch TFT screen, while the Go variant includes a simpler LCD display. Hero priced the VX2 aggressively to attract mass buyers. Limited-time introductory offers reduced prices by ₹15,000 for both variants. These offers boosted sales significantly in July 2025. Hero reported a monthly sales jump of 31% and a year-on-year growth of 175%. In FY 2025, Vida sold over 48,000 electric two-wheelers, and the VX2 played a major role in this success.

Government incentives under the new Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme (EMPS 2025) further reduce effective costs for eligible buyers. State-level subsidies in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Karnataka bring the actual ownership cost down even further.
