KuCoin Review 2025: Should You Trust This Global Exchange?

When we first heard about KuCoin back in 2017, it was just another name in a long list of crypto exchanges trying to make a mark. Fast-forward to 2025, and KuCoin is one of the top global players in the crypto exchange space, with millions of users and a wide selection of tokens. But with great scale comes greater scrutiny. So, we decided to take a deep dive into KuCoin ourselves—testing the platform, evaluating its features, analyzing its security, and breaking down everything you need to know before trusting your funds with this exchange.

If you’ve been wondering whether KuCoin is a reliable platform or just another flashy interface hiding vulnerabilities, this review will give you everything you need—straight from our hands-on experience.

🔍 First Impressions: Interface and Onboarding

Signing up on KuCoin is quick and easy. You can register using an email or phone number, and the process takes less than 5 minutes. You don’t need to complete full KYC (Know Your Customer) for basic trading and withdrawals up to a certain limit, which we appreciated for its ease. But for increased limits and fiat integrations, you’ll need to verify your identity.

The interface is clean and intuitive, even for newcomers. The dashboard doesn’t overwhelm you with data, and the app mirrors the desktop experience well. Navigating through spot trading, margin trading, P2P, futures, and earn products felt seamless. We didn’t experience any noticeable lag or bugs on either Android or iOS.

Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️½ – Easy to use, beginner-friendly, and fast setup.

💸 Trading Experience: Variety & Liquidity

KuCoin boasts over 800 listed cryptocurrencies and supports more than 1,200 trading pairs. Whether you’re a casual investor or a hardcore trader, you’ll probably find what you’re looking for.

We tried everything—spot trades, margin trades, futures, and even leveraged tokens. The liquidity, even for lesser-known altcoins, was surprisingly decent. Slippage was minimal in most cases, and order execution felt smooth. The advanced charting tools powered by TradingView allowed us to analyze the market in-depth.

KuCoin also offers a “Trading Bot” feature, which impressed us. You can automate your trades using grid strategies without needing to write a single line of code. It’s perfect for those who want to “set and forget” trades, especially in sideways markets.

Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ – Excellent variety, deep liquidity, and advanced tools for pros and beginners alike.

🔐 Security: Are Your Funds Safe?

This is where things get serious. KuCoin experienced a notable security breach in 2020, where hackers stole over $280 million worth of crypto. However, KuCoin managed to recover most of the funds through smart contract rollbacks, partnerships, and insurance.

Since then, KuCoin has significantly improved its security protocols. Here’s what we tested and observed:

  • 2FA authentication using Google Authenticator
  • Anti-phishing code to ensure emails come from KuCoin
  • Withdrawal whitelist that limits where your funds can go
  • Device management to track login activity
  • Cold wallet storage for the majority of funds

Despite the rocky past, KuCoin now ranks as one of the safer exchanges, especially with no major breaches since 2020.

But here’s the kicker: KuCoin doesn’t have a full license in the U.S., and regulatory clarity is still a concern in certain regions. So, while security tech-wise it’s robust, the legal landscape might create future uncertainties.

Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – Strong technical security, but keep an eye on regulatory developments.

🌍 Global Accessibility & Fiat Integration

KuCoin operates in over 200 countries and supports multiple languages, making it truly global. It offers a P2P fiat gateway that supports INR, USD, EUR, GBP, and more. We tested the INR P2P trading interface and had no issues buying USDT directly from verified merchants. The transaction was smooth, with funds settling within minutes.

That said, KuCoin does not support direct bank deposits or UPI in India yet. So, if you’re looking for seamless fiat-to-crypto on-ramps, platforms like Binance or CoinDCX might still have an edge for Indian users.

Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ – Works well globally, but fiat support in India is limited to P2P.

💰 Fees: Transparent & Competitive

This is one area where KuCoin really shines. The standard trading fee is just 0.1%, and you can get further discounts by holding and paying with KCS (KuCoin’s native token). For high-volume traders and VIPs, the fees go even lower.

We compared it to Binance, Kraken, and Coinbase Pro, and KuCoin consistently offered better pricing on trades. Withdrawals have varying fees depending on the token, but they remain competitive overall.

There are no hidden fees when it comes to deposits (crypto), but fiat P2P may involve small spreads depending on the seller.

Verdict: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐ – Transparent, low fees with solid loyalty rewards via KCS.

🧠 Extra Features We Loved

  • KuCoin Earn: You can stake your crypto or lock it into flexible savings accounts to earn passive income. We tested USDT flexible staking and saw decent APY (around 4.5%).
  • Launchpad & Spotlight: KuCoin regularly features promising new tokens via IEOs (Initial Exchange Offerings). If you’re into early-stage investments, this is a great opportunity—though always do your due diligence.
  • KCS Token Rewards: By holding KuCoin’s native token (KCS), we received daily bonuses and trading fee discounts. It’s a nice touch for long-term users.
  • Web3 Wallet: The recently launched KuCoin Wallet integrates with dApps and supports multiple chains. It bridges the centralized and decentralized world quite well.

🚩 What We Didn’t Like

  • Lack of full regulation: KuCoin is not licensed in the U.S. and some other jurisdictions. That creates long-term concerns, especially for users who need regulatory protection.
  • No real-time customer support via phone: Support is largely limited to live chat and tickets. While their response time was decent (6–8 hours in our case), phone support would be appreciated.
  • Interface overload for beginners: While experienced users will love the dashboard, complete newbies might feel overwhelmed with the number of options.

🧾 Final Verdict: Should You Trust KuCoin?

Yes—with caution.

KuCoin delivers a robust, feature-rich platform packed with tools for every type of crypto user—from casual traders to DeFi enthusiasts. It offers low fees, wide token support, and strong security upgrades. However, its uncertain regulatory status in some countries, including the U.S., means users must stay informed.

If you’re in a country where KuCoin operates freely and you understand the basics of crypto custody, it’s a great platform to explore. Just make sure you use all the available security settings, and don’t store long-term funds on any exchange—KuCoin included.
